Powerhouse Breakfast Juice and the 30 Day Yoga Challenge!

I have been test driving different juicers for about 6 weeks. I started with some low end ones, slowly building my way up to more expensive ones. So far I’ve reached the $199 Breville model with no real luck. I’ll keep you posted on the juicer front, but I suspect, like with most things, you get what you pay for. My guess is that the final juicer will be more expensive than I originally wanted to pay. I found a used model of the one my mom used to use while we were growing up. I should have it by Saturday. I look forward to trying it out.

Though I haven’t found a juicer that I love, I have found a breakfast juice that I do. It may not be to everyone’s liking but it’s one I find I keep going back to, and I’ll be sharing the recipe with you below, but first…

Homemade Chocolate Banana Power Bars – Vegan, Grain Free, Dairy Free

Though Spring teases us with it’s appearance every few days, it has not been nice enough for me to get out onto my road bike in the mornings. Skinny little tires and slick roads just means an accident waiting to happen. Luckily I have a trainer for my bike. It’s a neat little device that clips onto my back wheel and allows me to ride indoors – at least until nicer weather appears. The problem is locating that trainer.

Some of you might be asking, why not go out later in the day when the frost is no longer a problem? One thing I know about myself, is that if I haven’t worked out by 10:30 am, it probably won’t happen. Less than a 5% chance for sure. It’s important to know yourself after all. Why fight it? I prefer to work with my patterns and this in turn increases my success rate. When I say success, I simply mean I’m successful at moving more.

New Years Party Appy: Tapas Style Roasted Peppers and Almonds

As we get closer to that special day when millions of New Years resolutions are made and broken within days, my quest for yummy, healthy New Years Eve appys continues.

Will they all be healthy?

Probably not.

Will they be fat free?

Definitely not!

I was recently in the Safeway in Moose Jaw looking at a series of cookbooks put out by a lady that will remain anonymous. I actually really like her (which is why I won’t give out her name), but the constant use of low fat this and non fat that, drive me bonkers! All of the cookbooks are like that and all of the recipes are too. It’s not to say that the recipes aren’t good, but continuing to perpetuate the falsehood that if we eat low fat we’ll be healthier is nonsense. There’s my little rant.

Homemade Almond Power Bars For Non-Lazy People

Here we are again. Another ski fest for my hubby means some super calorie dense healthy snacks to keep him going in the great outdoors. We are also down to 2 protein brownies, so it’s definitely time! He doesn’t like to take the brownies because he says they don’t hold up well to being tossed around the bottom of a backpack under snow shovels, probes and other backcountry ski essentials.

Imagine that, a brownie not holding up its shape after having a shovel and 10 lbs of junk thrown on top of it. Jeez, what was I thinking? :) Note that they hold up just fine in my work bag, under 2 pairs of shoes, mittens and pens, and a bunch of other random stuff I lug around with me in an eco friendly shopping bag. I figure if it can hold up to a day of being tossed around in that environment they pass the test…but that’s just me. What do you think?
