Black Risotto and It’s New Buddy: Blue Corn Crepes

We’ve had amazing weather over the last week. The cherry blossoms are out and the magnolias are also making their presence on the stage this month. I think the spring is an absolutely fabulous time of the year. More and more produce is readily available from local farmers or at least a lot closer than from Chile and Argentina. The price of said produce is also decreasing which makes me happy.

Today, however, the nice days came to an end. It’s raining sideways and it’s miserable out. Our dog Shasta could care less, she just wants me to take her out for her walk. I diligently obliged to my daily hour walk commitment, and off we went. I’m not bothered by the poopy weather for one reason only – comfort food. It’s the perfect excuse to bake some yummy treats and cook up some comforting, cozy up by the fire kind of food.

Asian Braised Brisket Part 1. Tacos

In my younger days, I had the privilege of having a traveling work visa to the UK. It truly is a brilliant way for people to travel. Dried Sour Cherry Sauce

Dried Sour Cherry Sauce
Lamb with a Cherry Sauce and Yam and Potato Gratin

We recently inherited a large basket of amazing goodies. The basket was full of some of our favorite items, dried sour cherries, cranberries, pecans, cashews, almonds, chocolate and the list goes on. I have the pleasure of finding fun recipes to use all these great little treats. The obvious choice would be baking, but it was not exactly what I had in mind. A two week period of Christmas baking has left me feeling like I could use a break from all the sweets.

A dried sour cherry sauce for lamb chops seemed to be a step in the right direction. Now I suspected it was going to be good, but I even surprised myself.  If you haven’t already noticed, I’m the type of person that still gets really excited when I make something with WOW factor. I don’t know if that qualifies as being tacky, like “laughing at your own jokes” which I also do, but I really can’t help myself. Maybe it’s because I still remember having to call my father a decade ago and asking him how to make spaghetti sauce. I’ve come a long way.

Now this isn’t healthy, so I apologies in advance.
