Welcome To Keep It Real Thursdays!
This week I’m going to feature some recipes that follow a theme. Because I’m this month’s host of Food n’ Flix for the movie It’s Complicated, I wanted to choose food that I felt went well with that movie. All of these recipes were shared here last week as part of Keep It Real Thursday.
If you’d like to part take in the fun and frivolity of this Month’s Food ‘n Flix, see here for a short post on how to participate. Essentially, you watch this fun heart warming romance of an older couple and get inspired to make or bake something fun. Then share the recipe. The deadline is Sept 23rd!
We’ll showcase everyone’s creation right here!
MJ shared a Strawberry Tomato Salad with Mint. There’s a scene where Jane is picking fresh tomatoes from her garden. It inspired last week’s Caprese Salad. That scene, where she’s standing in the best garden ever, could inspire a hundred tomato recipes. I totally covet Jane’s garden. It’s absolutely worthy of coveting. And, yes I know coveting is a sin.
More from the garden…
Kalinda shared this super tasty looking recipes, Lima Beans with Artichokes and Sun -Dried Tomatoes. I think we can all agree that there is a serious shortage of good tasting lima bean recipes!
Laureen shared this ridiculously rich and moist chocolate cake. Though the icing has icing sugar, the cake itself is entirely sweetened with honey, which I love. It’s easy enough to replace the icing after all. I chose this one because there’s a scene where Jane bakes her lover (ex husband) a cake. His favorite happens to be a chocolate cake. I had chocolate cake written down on a list of recipes the movie inspired me to make. I thought this was fitting.
Jane (Meryl Streep) also happens to be the owner of the super amazing restaurant and bakery. Anyone who loves food will love the scenes that take place in this incredible little restaurant. I chose two recipes this week that reminded of this hip little spot where quality and great taste meet.
This Thai Coconut Soup is perfect for any bistro menu. And now you can make it at home!
I’m just in love with this idea from Jill for these Grain Free Salmon Rolls. Think Sushi Rolls without the rice. These are perfect for a tasty healthy lunch or a fresh and easy dinner. I think we can all agree that these would be delightful on a bistro or restaurant menu.
Keep It Real Thursday
Welcome to Keep It Real Thursday!
1. Introduce yourself, your blog, and what you’re about in the comment section and a small blurb about what you’re sharing. This way people can get to know you a little bit right off the hop and hopefully follow you as well.
2. Be sure to add a link in your post back to this post. Simple linky etiquette. This allows your readers to find other posts that may help them on their journey.
3. If you’re sharing recipes, the only requirement is that the ingredient list be comprised of real food only, that means non-processed food items. That being said, we are all in different places on our real food journey, some more advanced than others. I invite all of you to share, no matter where you are on your journey, but I ask you to stay mindful when sharing your recipes that this is a whole (real) food blog. This means, no ingredient lists that include edible oil products (velveeta, frozen whip topping), protein powders, ketchup, white flour, margarine or white and brown sugar.
4. Less of a rule but more a suggestion: Retweet, Stumble, or Pin this post so EVERYONE gets more exposure and traffic. It’s win-win for everyone.
Don’t have a blog? That’s ok, we’d still love to hear from you. Write your recipes or tips in the comment section so we can get to know you too!
Now it’s your turn to share your whole food recipes and ideas!
I’m sharing this with Mangia Monday, Monday Mania, My Meatless Monday, Slightly Indulgent Tuesday, Tasty Tuesday, and Fat Tuesday, Whole Foods Wednesday, Cast Party Wednesday, Allergy Free Wednesday, The Tasty Alternative, What’s Cooking Wednesday, and Real Food Wednesday.
