Keep It Real Thursdays

Hello and welcome back to Keep It Real Thursdays. I am so sorry that we were not able to be here last Thursday, since I was in the heart of a food poisoning/ flu bug from hell! It’s very odd for me to get sick, but in a way it’s a good thing. It keeps my super hero ego in check from time to time. Hahaha.

This week I’ve picked out some posts that were shared back in December that are a little more health conscious and a little less sweet. With health goals back on track and in full throttle, a few good ideas are in order!

Real Food Freaks

Curry Fermented Hummus

Tessa The Domestic Diva

Easy Mexican Tortilla Soup

Small Footprint Family

How Much Land Do You Need To Be Self Sufficient?

Moi from Beyond The Peel

Vegan Cauliflower Steak Sandwich

Keep It Real Thursday

1. Introduce yourself, your blog, and what you’re about in the comment section and a small blurb about what you’re sharing. This way people can get to know you a little bit right off the hop and hopefully follow you as well.

2. Be sure to add a link in your post back to this post otherwise the linky tool will give you an error message. Though it was suggested you add a back link to THIS post in YOUR post, it will now be required. Copy and paste the link in the address bar above and add it to your site before trying to link it here. Otherwise the linky tool will give you an error message. If you have any questions about how to do that, just send me an email and I can walk you through it. Thanks everyone for the support and your involvement in Keep It Real Thursdays! This allows your readers to find other posts that may help them on their journey.

3. If you’re sharing recipes, the ingredient list must be comprised of real food only, that means non-processed food items. That being said, we are all in different places on our real food journey, some more advanced than others. I invite all of you to share, no matter where you are on your journey, but I ask you to stay mindful when sharing your recipes that this is a whole (real) food blog. This means, no ingredient lists that include edible oil products (velveeta, frozen whip topping), protein powders, ketchup, white flour, margarine or white and brown sugar.

4. Less of a rule but more a suggestion: Retweet,  Stumble, or Pin this post so EVERYONE gets more exposure and traffic. It’s win-win for everyone.

Don’t have a blog? That’s ok, we’d still love to hear from you. Write your recipes or tips in the comment section so we can get to know you too!

Now it’s your turn to share your whole food recipes and ideas!

Thanks for featuring my post on how much land you need to be self sufficient. This week I’ve linked up 10 Green New Year’s REVolutions, a recipe for Thieve’s Oil, and a recipe for simple lacto-fermented beets–plus how to grow them!

    • France Morissette January 10, 2013 at 5:37 pm #

Thanks for coming by Dawn. I look forward to your post on Thieve’s Oil, I’m heard so much about it.

    • beyondthepeel January 14, 2013 at 6:48 pm #

I’ve heard so much about Thieves Oil. I think that will be quite popular.

Sorry to hear you were sick, France. There’s a new strain of Norovirus going around and it can be mistaken for food poisoning. We had it in our house over the holidays, too. On the up-side, you probably didn’t have food poisoning – and if it was Noro, now you’re immune to the new strain.

    • France Morissette January 10, 2013 at 5:36 pm #

I suspect you’re right Beth. With what’s going around the valley these days, it was probably that.

    • beyondthepeel January 14, 2013 at 6:48 pm #

Thanks Beth for the FYI. I think that’s probably what I had since it hung on for so long. Well if I get the flu every 4 or 5 years, I really don’t have much to complain about :)

  3. Jen January 10, 2013 at 2:42 pm #

    Thanks for the feature France!

  4. Dina-Marie @ Cultured Palate January 10, 2013 at 2:52 pm #

Thanks for hosting – hope you are feeling better!

Today I shared “Gallbladder Cleanse – An Alternative to Surgery” While this may not be the most appetizing recipe, for those who have gallstones or just want to make sure there are no stones lurking – this really works!

I also shared “Oyster Stew” and “Are Diet Sodas Making You Gain Weight?”

Sorry to hear about your bug!! I feel ya, though….my flu has been going on for days, with no end in sight! Not fun at all! I’m adding my chestnut soup today…it’s simple, vegan and manages to be completely comforting while remaining wholesome!

Thanks for picking my soup…I can;t seem to get enough of them currently! I have had food poisoning SO many times…ironically, it has never been in any of my extensive visits to Mexico, it is always here! No fun… I even got it while trying to travel home on standby one time…that was interesting…I kept getting booted off the planes b/c i was standby…awful! Glad to have you back!

    • France Morissette January 10, 2013 at 5:33 pm #

Me too, I have the worst luck. I think now it may have been the flu since it seems the flu plague is going around. Thanks for the warm welcome back Tessa. It’s always good to see you.
