Keep It Real Thursday – Simple Whole Food Recipes

Whether you’re gearing up for Christmas parties and entertaining and need goodie ideas, you’ re stocking your freezers and cupboards with staples like bone broths and hot sauces, or you want simple, healthy meal ideas, you’re sure to find something to suit your fancy. Here are a few highlights from some wonderful whole food blogs that I swear will have you salivating. I hope you’ll pay them a visit, since these highlights, as you may expect, are only the tip of the iceberg. Drooling is allowed.

Jeanette’s Healthy Living

Homemade Ghost Chile Hot Sauce

I love hot sauces. I love the way they taste but also they are a great healthy way to season “ho hum” food into taste explosions. This one looks especially enticing.

Small Footprint Family

Easiest Crockpot Chicken Stock Ever

This is one of those great recipes that everyone should have in their repertoire. If you’re just starting out with whole foods, then you’re probably still buying your chicken stock either in powdered form (full of high fructose corn syrup, usually the first or second ingredient!) or you’re buying the liquid stuff in a box or can. Here’s a great recipe that is not only easy but inexpensive (made with stuff you’d throw out anyway) and very nutritious.

Jen’s Natural Kitchen

Paleo Biscotti

Oh my, I love me some biscotti, dipped in tea for a treat or in a glass of wine after dinner. So yummy. If you’re following a grain free diet you can still have cookies and, better yet, sophisticated adult cookies you won’t feel guilty about.

Here’s another grain free biscotti worth a mention since I bookmarked it last week while surfing some of my favorite sites. Tasty Eats at Home is a fun place to visit if you’re checking other sites out.

Simple Living and Eating

Pumpkin Lentil Stew

If simple is a must for dinner time, then this is a must try. I’m also a huge fan of lentils and this sounds delightfully tasty. This nutritious and ridiculously simple stew will be gracing my dinner table soon. I hope you have a chance to try it too.

Keep It Real Thursday

1. Introduce yourself, your blog, and what you’re about in the comment section and a small blurb about what you’re sharing. This way people can get to know you a little bit right off the hop and hopefully follow you as well.

2. Be sure to add a link in your post back to this post otherwise the linky tool will give you an error message. Though it was suggested you add a back link to THIS post in YOUR post, it will now be required. Copy and paste the link in the address bar above and add it to your site before trying to link it here. Otherwise the linky tool will give you an error message. If you have any questions about how to do that, just send me an email and I can walk you through it. Thanks everyone for the support and your involvement in Keep It Real Thursdays! This allows your readers to find other posts that may help them on their journey.

3. If you’re sharing recipes, the ingredient list must be comprised of real food only, that means non-processed food items. That being said, we are all in different places on our real food journey, some more advanced than others. I invite all of you to share, no matter where you are on your journey, but I ask you to stay mindful when sharing your recipes that this is a whole (real) food blog. This means, no ingredient lists that include edible oil products (velveeta, frozen whip topping), protein powders, ketchup, white flour, margarine or white and brown sugar.

4. Less of a rule but more a suggestion: Retweet,  Stumble, or Pin this post so EVERYONE gets more exposure and traffic. It’s win-win for everyone.

Don’t have a blog? That’s ok, we’d still love to hear from you. Write your recipes or tips in the comment section so we can get to know you too!

Now it’s your turn to share your whole food recipes and ideas!
